A majority of our customers have never rented a dumpster and are unsure of what rubbish can be thrown into them. This section is dedicated to what can and more importantly what cannot be placed in our dumpsters.
We have four categories of rubbish that are not allowed in dumpsters. If any of these items are thrown into the dumpster, customers can face significant fines or possibly even jail time.
Most states have implemented Electronic waste disposal bans. The electronics list of banned items include, but are not limited to: television sets, central processing units (CPUs), computer monitors, peripherals, printers, fax machines, laptops, tablets, DVD players, VCRs, radios, stereos, video game consoles and video display devices with viewing screens greater than four inches diagonally.
Although these items cannot be placed in our dumpsters, we can offer disposal of electronics using our On-Demand services. Find out more about that service by clicking here.
The hazardous material list could be a large book if we wanted to show a comprehensive list. Following is an abbreviated list to give an idea of what items are not allowed in our dumpsters: Oil, Paint, Batteries, Smoke Detectors, Asbestos, Gasoline, Liquids, Fluorescent Lights, Bio-Waste, Propane Tanks, Sewage Waste, Oil Filters
This is the only category of debris where we do not offer a disposal option for our customers. Your county or city websites may offer alternatives for this category of rubbish.
The Freon gas in these items are known contributors to the destruction of the ozone layer. There are now state and federal laws that require all Freon containing items to have the Freon removed prior to disposal.
Our On-Demand service offers an option for the proper disposal of Refrigerators. Please click here to find out more.
Tires are not allowed in the landfill for multiple reasons. They create voids in landfills that allow for gas traps which can eventually lead to the destruction of landfill liners. One other reason is the potential for long lasting fires.
As with Electronics, our On-Demand service has a process for the responsible disposal of tires, to find out more click here
Please note that heavy items such as brick, dirt, concrete and gravel are allowed but due to the weight limits of our trucks only 2.5 to 5 cubic yards (depending on material) of the dumpster can be used before we reach our weight limit. Please talk to our driver during the dumpster drop off to understand fill limits for heavy items.
