Seattle 206-274-7860Hauling away a Swingset
Monday November 7th 2011Deciding to get rid of your swing set or play gym is usually a gradual process. It starts when the kids start to find other interests - like baseball or ballet. Suddenly swinging is no longer cool The tree house is too small and the monkey bars are no longer challenging. Worse yet the structure starts to lean one way and isn't safe to have around. Its time to tear it down. Fortunately bringing it down is easier than the time consuming process of putting it together, but it still creates some challenges. One challenge is how best to safely disassemble it, what to do with the debris once its down and how to dispose of it.
If you are lucky you can donate the swing set to a friend or neighbor and task them with taking it apart and moving it. Some young new dad that wants to take advantage of a "Free" play gym is a perfect person for the job.
Although if the swing set is in the Seattle area and has been standing for more than ten years chances are that the wood is rotten, moldy or unsafe due to structural issues.
In that case its best to demolish it. We have found the quickest way is a chain saw or saws all. Making a few key cuts can bring the entire structure down in just a few short minutes. Its best to start by removing the swing, slide and any other toys to separate them from the wood. If the structure is treated wood, it will need to be taken to the landfill, if its raw wood some recycling centers may take it. Call ahead to save yourself the trip.
Once the structure has been levelled start by removing the large pieces first and placing them in a truck or flatbed.
Rubbish Works of Seattle can demolish and haul away your swing set or play structure in the Seattle or Bellevue area.
